Registration and general information desks will be open at the entrance of the
ICEC during the following times:

Identification Badges
All participants are kindly requested to wear their congress ID badges at all times
when attending the sessions and social events.
Halls & Rooms
The Opening Session and the Keynote Lectures will be at the main hall of ICEC - Anadolu
Auditorium. The invited sessions will be held at Marmara and Topkapı Rooms. All conributed
sessions will be at Dolmabahçe Rooms (A, B, C) and Sultan (1, 2, 3) Rooms. Location of
the halls, rooms and sessions are as follows.

Sessions
Invited and Contributed Sessions
In invited sessions, there are Chairpersons designated to moderate the sessions. In contributed
sessions, the participants in each session designate a Chairperson amongst themselves to
moderate the session.
Each contributed paper is allocated a total of 30 minutes. It is assumed that the paper will
be presented in about 20 minutes, and in the remaining time the Chairperson invites the room
to discuss the paper. Each conference room is equipped with a computer and a projector,
and the presentations can be made using PowerPoint. Authors are kindly asked to bring
copies of their papers for distribution before the session.
Speakers' Ready Room
The Speakers' Ready Room is located at Levent 3 Room (2nd Floor). The room will be open
from 25th June to 29th June between 08:00 - 18:30 hours.
Communication Room - Internet Cafe
An Internet Cafe (communication center) is to be found behind the cloak room, located at
the entrance foyer of ICEC.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is strictly forbidden by law at all indoor areas.
Coffee Breaks and Lunches
Coffee/Tea will be served at the foyers of ICEC at the Coffee Breaks mentioned in the
programme. However there will be cash bars where you may buy coffee/tea or other soft
drinks at all times.
Participants may collect their lunch boxes at the buffets located at the entrance foyer of
ICEC during 13:00 - 13:45 hours each day.
Welcome Reception
The Welcome Reception will be held at the foyers of ICEC on Wednesday, 25th June at
19:30 - 22:00 hours.
Transportation to & from ICEC
There will be no shuttle service between hotels and ICEC. Delegates staying at nearby hotels
to ICEC may reach by walking. Due to the new extension construction of ICEC, the entrance
is given through the park, passed by the Military Museum & Harbiye Cultural Center. A map
is to be found in the Congress Bags showing how to get to ICEC by walking.
Information & Tours Desk
The Information & Tours Desk is located at the Registration Area, ICEC Entrance Foyer.
Bilingual staff will serve all participants and their accompanying persons by providing
information on the congress and general information on the city.
There will be tours organized specially for the participants. Please see the Tours Info to be
found in the congress bags. Bookings to the tours will be made at this desk.
Insurance & Liability
Neither TEA (Turkish Economic Association) nor SV Consortium can be held responsible for
any accident or loss involving participants. As the registration fee does not include insurance
of any kind, it is recommended that insurance should be arranged by participants on an
individual basis.

Eating Out
Turkey is well known for its diverse range of dishes, mostly due to regional variation. Istanbul
has become a melting pot of both local and international cuisines. Turkish Cuisine is one
the best in the world. Fresh fish is traditionally served at restaurants by the Bosphorus
accompanied with delicious Turkish wines or Raki (the local drink). At Taksim area a lot
of fast - food possibilities can easily be found.
Tipping
Tipping in Turkey is most of the time not included for services. In any case tipping is your
prerogative, a reward for service.
Communications
Turkey's GSM operators have a wide range of roaming agreements with foreign operators.
It is possible to use most of the Cellular phones in Turkey. Public telephones have two
different systems. Some of them work with cards while others work with tokens. They are
both sold in post offices and tobacco shops. For international calls it is advisable to purchase
cards. Phone numbers in Turkey consists two sections: area code, with three digits and the
number itself, seven digits.

International : 0 + 0 + country code + area code + number
Currency
The monetary unit is the Yeni (New) Turkish Lira.

Coins (kurus) : 1; 5; 10; 25; 50 New Kurus and 1 New Lira
Exchange
Exchange rates change daily and can be checked in the press. Most ATM's accept
international credit cards or bank cards.
Besides banks, official exchange bureaus called “'Döviz Bürosu'' also offer a fast service
and usually they do not charge comission and only change cash.
Credit Cards
All major credit cards are welcomed at the hotels, restaurants and shops. For the registration
and the hotel payment only VISA and MASTERCARD are accepted.
Shopping
Istanbul is a shoppers' paradise for carpets, leather goods, gold bargains and fashion.
The fascinating Covered Bazaar and Spice Market make shopping an irresistable joy.
Tax Free
Visitors who do not reside in Turkey are able to reclaim VAT on goods purchased in Tax Free
signed shops. Please look for Tax Free sticker placed on the windows of the shops.

Offices and Banks are open generally from 09:00 to 17:00 hours from Monday to Friday.
